The Link Youth Health Service is open Mon, Wed, Thur. Fri. 9.30am – 4.30pm & Tuesday 1:00 – 4.30pm
In the open access area you can use the washing machine and dryer, shower, toilet, pick up hygiene items (like shampoo, razors, tampons etc), condoms, use the phone for health related calls, have your mail sent here for you to pick up, and see a Centrelink worker every Wednesday from 11.30 – 12.30. All services are free of charge.
Youth Health Workers are available without an appointment, just drop in for a chat. Workers can provide a range of support for you including referral to external service providers, advocacy, and support for any health issues in a confidential setting. In addition to our services we are very well resourced, so that if we can’t help you directly we can point you to someone who can help.
Our NSP is offered through a non-judgemental and private setting and provides clean injecting equipment, information, and a place where you can safely dispose of injecting equipment.
The Youth Health Workers may assist you through the Youth Health Fund to cover the costs for short term one-off health emergencies, when alternate funds are not available. You will need to come and talk to a Youth Health Worker about your situation to determine how we can best assist you.
The Health Hub has a number of health providers available for appointments including; a G.P (every Wednesday morning), three psychologists (Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), osteopath (Thursday afternoons) and a family planning nurse (Wednesday afternoons) and family planning doctor (Thursday mornings) and they are all FREE (bulk billed). Call in or call up to talk to a Youth Worker to make an appointment.
Youth After Care Support Service (YACSS)
This program is to support young people exiting detox or rehabilitation services. YACSS provides a case manager whose primary focus is to work with you to develop strategies to prevent relapse. The case manager will be able to come and see you in Detox or Rehabilitation and continue working with you after you have exited. If you are thinking about quitting and want to find out what’s out there to help, you can come and talk with a Youth Worker where all your information is kept confidential.
